What do you think should happen to Alan?
I think personally a special (or a few) or a third series will be best, but Steve Coogan keeps hinting on an AP movie. Personally I think that this is another idea of Coogan's to cash-in. He is becoming too mainstream and Americanised and I feel that if he made an AP movie it would be the same. I could be wrong.
What do other people think?

I think if a movie got round to being made it would feature many references to American culture. Red Dwarf the series gradually included more US orientated sketches so much so that one later episode in particular was based around the JFK assasination! Sadly the humour seemed to get worse along the way. A Red Dwarf movie is coming so it would be interesting to see what changes are being made to suit it to the American audience.
However the material on AP is derived mainly from references to British culture so it would be difficult to adjust him to anywhere else other than Norwich and the pedestrianisation of the city centre. Access to Dixons - access to Wal-Mart? hm.
I didn't find Bean the movie as funny as the series, but at least that character is a genuine 'fish out of water' and could really be placed anywhere.
I saw Steve in Around T W I 80 Days and was pleased to see his Alan-esque act still shining through. I really enjoyed the movie more than I thought I would.
Partridge is too big to be killed off now, Steve should really see that people want more of him. I know he must be loathing the fact his 'Alan' act has seemingly become bigger than him but at the same time he should be thankful of so much success with such first class comedy.
Alan will be back - movie, series or special? Who knows, but Steve must see it's too early to be getting rid of the best tv character ever! Let's just hope Hollywood doesn't suck too much of his soul away. Get Bill Oddie to give him a call, tell the young fellow to come back to work on Badgerwatch Live.

My friend spoke to Norman Lovett (sp) about a red dwarf film and he said they wouldn't be making one, that was a while back so will they be?

A Red Dwarf movie is a disaster waiting to happen.

I think we need to hope that steve coogan gets off his drugs easily and painlessly before suggesting a third series or a one off or even an alan partridge movie.

The Red Dwarf movie has been in pre production for the last 4 years or something now. However official word on their website from last month states that they're due to start filming in Australia soon (because it's cheap). I guess George Lucas made the Star Wars prequels cheap too then, I'm sure he could have afforded to shoot over here.
Anyhow, going off topic. I would really like to see a third Partridge series more than a movie for the moment. And Steve in full health.

I'd like to see another series of "Knowing Me, Knowing You... with Alan Partridge" rather than "I'm Alan Partridge" but of course either one would be brilliant. As for Red Dwarf, I wouldn't have any high expectations on a movie, if there is one. The comedy got rather mediocre in the final season(s).

i think, undoubtedly, the best option would be for a larry sanders style show, where alan gets a job doing a chat show, but we see the behind the scenes of it aswell as the show itself. giving us the best of Im alan partridge and the best of knowing me knowing you, together.
That's what I thought they were doing with series 2 of "i'm"

Skirmish! Skirmish! What we need are some episodes of Skirmish.
However, I think Peskimo's idea is good and they should implement that into it.

I think they should do a series of pilots; By some bizarre legal loophole the BBC have to honour their 5 yr contract signed at the end of IAP1, and we have a series of six 'pilot' shows, which will obviously fail and end in disaster.
Another option would be a prequel series.

Another option would be a prequel series. I would also like the idea of a prequel.
